"What About Us?" Community Celebration

A FREE and open to all Community Event to Celebrate the successful completion of "What About Us?" 3-year Public Education Campaign to combat Sexual Violence, Teenage Pregnancy and Gender Inequality in the Asian American & Pacific Islander community. There will be Youth Testimonies; Animated Video Presentation "No Means No!", Discussions and Raffle Drawing.

When: Thursday, May 18, 2006, 5 to 7:30 pm

Where: Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway Avenue, Mpls, MN 55411

Who: "What About Us?" is a project designed by a core group of Pan Asian teen girls in the Twin Cities to educate peers and parents about gender inequality and sexual violence in Asian American & Pacific Islander community. Its mission is to change the community perceptions about gender inequalities, to prevent girls from being victims of sexual violence and develop a statewide and nation-wide youth network to address such issues. Our 3-year Public Education Campaign, - What About Us?, successfully advocated for girls' rights, and increased public recognition of the value of women and girls to society.

Event Schedule:

5 to 6:15 pm Presentation of "No Means No!" and Youth Testimonies

6:15 to 6:30 pm Break Dance Performance by Universal Dance Destiny

6:30 to 7 pm Dinner and Discussions in groups led by Youth Leaders

7 to 7:30 pm Group Reflection & Raffle Drawing

The Event is brought to you by "What About Us?" and Asian Media Access, with support of Women's Foundation and Unitarian Socialist Fund.

Co-Sponsored by Plymouth Christian Youth Center, and the acclaimed dance group Universal Dance Destiny!
