The White House Initiative for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders MN Visit

The White House Initiative For Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) is planning a site visit to MN. The recently appointed Executive Director Jimmy D. Lee and other federal officials will come to MN at April 18th and 19th, to better understand and support local AAPI community.

1. Develop, monitor and coordinate federal efforts to improve Asian American and Pacific Islander participation in government programs.
2. Foster research and data collection for Asian American and Pacific Islanders businesses and communities and
3. Increase their level of participation in the national economy and their economic and community development.

The tentative itinerary for the federal visit is as following:

April 18: Site Visits and Meetings with local Officials
… Briefing with AAPI demographic data of MN, along with a press conference about the Visit
… Meeting at Allianz Life
… Meeting at TARGET Corporation
… Introduction of Medicare Part D at Vietnamese Social Center, with federal officials from Health and Human Services
… Visit Hmong refugees
… Visit Korean Elderly Assistance Living Program

Community Reception (6-9pm), hosted by Allianz Life

April 19: Technical Assistance Workshop and Panel for local AAPI community agencies (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
