East Meets West

is a series of TV programs that explores the cultural difference between Asians and Westerners. This series designed to help viewers to break the stereotyped portrayals of Asians and understand Asian cultures and life styles with emphasis on truth and realism. Most of programs will focus on comparison of Eastern and Western cultures. By looking into different cultures, and discussing the differences in an open and containable way, we will be able to encourage more interactings between Asians and mainstream and increase cross-fertilization, finally enrich American society as a whole. East Meets West also addresses issues that effect young Asian Americans such as: Drug abuse, Teen Pregnancy, Alcohol and Tobacco.

This episode of East Meets West tackles the issues of the intentional target of youth from big-tobacco companies. The host, Julie Vang interviews representatives from Catalyst, a nonprofit organization empowering youth to fight against the big-tobacco companies. This episode was taped at the SPNN studios in St. Paul, MN in October 2007.

This episode of East Meets West has the teens talking about everything from the next presidential election to "do girls today wear too much makeup?" The host, Helemina Latu delves into these questions that teens face on a daily basis.
