2011 Media Camp will be held from October 20 - 23 at Phillippo Scout Reservation in Cannon Falls, MN.

When: Fall every year during the Education Minnesota Professional Conference (previously called MEA) weekend.
Who can apply: Open to all youth grades 9-12 but
with Asian Americans focus.
Through hands-on media training, the Media Camp for Asian American
Youth will provide students with a chance to explore current
issues in forms which can effectively reach a broad audience.
Students
will be assigned to one of the four training groups - Video
Production, Video Editing, Creative Writing and Photography
- and will receive specialized training in the area. Students
will then collaborate with each other in production groups
and produce their own short videos, written articles and
photographs.
Students will learn:
Video Production: learn how to operate a video camera; how
to compose a scene, how composition affects the telling of
a story
Video Editing: learn how to piece together a story using non-linear
editing technology on a computer
Creative Writing: learn how to write through experiences and
emotion
Photography: discover the power of photography; tell
stories through photographs; learn operations of a camera and
composition of scenes
When to Apply: late September to mid October
