What About Us

Sure, with the software these days, one can compose music right on the computer without knowing how to play instruments.

But musical instruments played live adds a completely different dimension in creating music.

What is it

Project Soundscape is our "analogue" side of music program with private weekly lesson in piano and guitar. Lessons are 30 minutes each.

Requirements

  • There is a $5 registration per family for up to 2 students per family per term. There are no other financial obligation.
  • Signups are on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • We ask for weekly commitment in attneding the lessons. Please call in if a student can not make the class. Student's place will be given to the next person after 3 unexcused absences.
  • If students have instruments available at home, we ask that they practice daily.
  • Attend and perform at the term-end recital.
Students ages are limited to at least 6 years old for piano, and 13 years old for guitar. The reason for the older starting age in guitar is we currently do not have guitars sized for younger students. That will change once we are able to obtain smaller-bodied guitars. There is no upper age limit for students.

There is also a rock band instruction and practice on Sundays. Students need to commit 6 hours every Sunday to the band. There are some instructions involved, but mostly directed towards team work in playing cohesively with each other. There are positions currently open for a guitarist and keyboardist.

Following is the current lesson and practice schedule for the winter/spring 2011 term:

Mondays, 5 PM - 9 PM, Piano
Tuesdays, 5 PM - 9 PM, Guitar
Sundays, 9 AM - 3 PM, Rock Band Instructions & Practice
